OVPR Blood Drive

Date 11/05/18 9:00am to 2:30pm
Location N201 Millennium Science Complex

This November, the American Red Cross is doing a Penn State internal challenge to save “3,000 lives in 3 weeks”—since each blood donation can save up to 3 lives, the goal of collecting 1,000 units of blood between Oct. 29 and Nov. 15 would result in 3,000 lives saved!  Come donate at the November 5 OVPR drive, get a free t-shirt, and help us meet Penn State’s goal of 1,000 units in 3 weeks!

[IMPORTANT NOTE:  Though walk-in donations will be accepted, please make an appointment for your donation if at all possible--this will ensure that we are adequately staffed to accommodate everyone who wishes to donate, as the Red Cross staffs the drive based upon the number of appointments made in advance--thanks!]

Make your appointment for our November Blood Drive today!  Both whole blood and  power red donations will be accepted.

~~Donation is easy and takes no more than one hour of your time (about 1 ½ hrs. for power reds).

Appointments are strongly encouraged(see how and why below)--Walk-ins are also welcome!*

To make an appointment*:

On-line:  Go to http://www.redcrossblood.org  and enter zip code ‘16802’ or ‘PSU’ in the 'Find a Blood Drive' field on the upper right.   A list of blood drives in our area will come up; choose 'Millennium Science Complex' on November 5.  Click to schedule an appointment on the left;  you will need to create a username and password the first time.  For subsequent donations, you will be able to log in to your own page and go from there.   Click the time you want for your appointment, and you will receive a confirming email.  You are going to save a life!

Phone or e-mail:  Contact the blood drive coordinator  (Joanne Aller, 814-865-2896, jam28@psu.edu) to make the appointment for you.

Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood--Make your appointment today to give blood at the OVPR Institutes Blood Drive!  See information above on how to schedule your appointment using the app, on line, or call the drive coordinator.

*Appointments are strongly encouraged--here is why:  Staffing for the drive is based on how many appointments are made prior to the drive, so while walk-ins will be accommodated, we are more likely to stay on schedule if the majority of donors have appointment
