New MRI (Open House at Hershey)
It is an exciting time for magnetic resonance imaging research at Penn State. The brand new Social and Life Sciences Imaging Center (SLIC) at University Park is scheduled to open in Chandlee Laboratory in early 2009 with a new 3T human Siemens scanner, one 7T and one 14T animal scanners, and the Human Electrophysiology Facility.
The MRI Core Facility of the College of Medicine at Hershey is expanding their already vibrant imaging research capability by installing an identical new Siemens 3T scanner. The installation of the two identical state of art imaging systems at both campuses will create an exceptional infrastructure for across-campus collaborations and transnational research.
Dr. Eggli, Chair of Department of Radiology and Dr. Qing X Yang, Director of the MRI Core facility have graciously extended an invitation to faculty, graduate students, and post-docs to attend their ribbon cutting and open house. The details are provided below.
Please plan on joining our colleagues at the College of Medicine to celebrate this historic event. A ribbon cutting will by followed by a tour, MRI demonstration, lunch, and open discussion about your research interests and, of course, Q & A. It promises to be both fun and enlightening.
