“Novel Findings on the Effectiveness of PCIT with Child Welfare-Involved Families” This seminar will present new research on the effectiveness of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for families involved in the child welfare system, highlighting how the intervention supports positive parenting, reduces child behavior problems, and strengthens parent-child relationships. About the Speaker Dr. Skowron is a professor in the Department of Human and Family Studies and the associate director of Child Maltreatment Solutions Network. Skowron is a certified PCIT therapist and Level I Within-Agency Trainer. She and her students study child and family interventions, including trauma-informed adaptations of PCIT, to strengthen caregiver-child relationships and improve emotional regulation. A former Fulbright Scholar, Skowron has also served on NIH review panels and as President of the University Senate. |
