PRI research associates Diane Felmlee, professor of sociology, and Derek Kreager, director of the Justice Center for Research and professor of sociology and criminology, along with their colleague Duane Alwin, director of the Center for Life Course and Longitudinal Studies and McCourtney Professor of Sociology and Demography, published their new book, “Social Networks and the Life Course: Integrating the Development of Human Lives and Social Relational Networks” in the Frontiers in Sociology and Social Research Journal.
Their book explores the impact of social networks over the course of a person’s life and introduces the idea of joining these social science subfields to researchers. The authors tie together the theoretical and methodological views of both specialty areas, consider hypotheses regarding the role of social relationships during the life span, offer current research, and pinpoint aspects of current knowledge and research that should be further examined.
