Description |
TriNetX, a data discovery tool, is now available through Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute. TriNetX is like another Institute tool called i2b2. Both are searchable databases of more than 1 million Penn State Health patients, but TriNetX includes a more user-friendly graphical interface. Through TriNetX and i2b2, users search for patients meeting specified criteria in a de-identified database, without IRB approval. The data is presented as unique patient counts; a patient is counted only once. Such a search can help researchers determine whether enough potential patients are available to properly conduct a research study. Training sessions on TriNetX are available on Thursday, June 14 at University Park and Friday, June 15 at Hershey. Topics will include the consultation request process and best practices, the export ID process, and data expansion projects. Attendees will also view a demonstration of how to create database queries for project feasibility. Attendees may register for sessions that are most appropriate for their needs. Bring a laptop to the training. Those without TriNetX log ins will be added upon registration. |
