Dispelling Myths About The Research Misconduct Process
By Courtney Karmelita, D.Ed., who oversees the Research Integrity Program and serves as the Research Integrity Officer (RIO) at Penn State, including the College of Medicine, Commonwealth campuses, and all institutes and labs.
In this presentation, Dr. Karmelita will provide an overview of how research misconduct is handled, including the various phases and outcomes. The RIO will also address common issues that are brought to her attention and seek to dispel myths and misconceptions about the process. More info and the slides are here.

The annual conference of the Penn State Consortium on Substance Use and Addiction brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, funders, and community leaders to focus on community-engaged solutions to problems of substance use. Opportunities to leverage evidence-based solutions in the areas of prevention, recovery, treatment, and stigma will be discussed by a series of panels with a moderator. Sessions on each of these areas are designed to stimulate impactful collaborations between individuals, families, and communities across the Commonwealth and beyond.

Implementation Science Seminar - "Engaging in Implementation Science: What you need to know"

The one-hour seminar described the foundations of implementation science (e.g., terminology, conceptual models and frameworks, study design, implementation strategies). It was presented by Erika Crable, PhD, MPH, University of California San Diego.
Dr. Crable is an implementation scientist whose research focuses on health policy, comorbid substance use and mental illness, and health equity for publicly insured, uninsured and underinsured populations.
This event was jointly hosted by the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI).
