Van Hook elected president of the Population Association of America

Jenny Van Hook, distinguished professor of sociology and demography and director of SSRI’s Data Resources Hub, was recently named president-elect of the Population Association of America (PAA).

This is a prestigious honor that reflects Van Hook’s stature in the field and her long-standing commitment and work with the PAA. She will serve as PAA’s president-elect, president, and outgoing president for a 3-year term that will begin in January.

Ashton Verdery, professor of sociology, demography and social data analytics, will also represent Penn State after being elected to serve on the PAA’s Board of Directors.

Both elected positions are a testament to Van Hook’s and Verdery’s many career accomplishments and contributions to PAA.
